2025/8/12:The National Retail Federation (NRF) and Kantar have released the 2025 list of the Top 25 Fastest-Growing U.S. Retailers, based on year-over-year retail sales growth in the U.S. from 2023 to 2024.

  • #1 JD Sports (UK) grew 41.5% to $5.75B in U.S. sales, driven by major acquisitions including Hibbett and City Gear.

  • #2 Primark (Ireland) saw 30% growth, adding $194M in sales.

  • #3 Fast Retailing (Japan, owner of Uniqlo) rose 27.7% to $1.27B in sales.

  • #4 Shell achieved 26.8% growth through retail acquisitions.

Mergers & acquisitions were a key growth driver for many on the list, though the overall pace of acquisitions has slowed in 2025 due to economic uncertainty. Store expansion was another major factor, with Aldi (#7) growing 13.5% and Ollie’s Bargain Outlet (#21) adding 47 new stores.

Food retailers dominated the rankings, including Sprouts Farmers Market (#8), Superior Grocers (#6), H Mart (#16), 99 Ranch Market (#20), and Wawa (#23) — all leveraging strong local appeal and targeted marketing strategies.

International brands also made a strong showing, such as Aldi (Germany), Shell (UK), Primark (Ireland), Daiso Sangyo (#13, Japan), and MUJI (#14, Japan).

One standout was Amazon (#11). Despite its massive size, Amazon grew U.S. retail sales by 9.4%, adding $23.54B for a total of $273.65B. Its diverse business model — from e-commerce to physical retail — continues to expand its market footprint.
